1st day Leave by the coastal road to the Corinth Canal (shortstop). Drive on and visit the Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then proceed to the town of Nafplio (short photo stop), drive on Mycenae and visit the Archaeological Site, such as the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate, the Royal Tombs, including Agamemnon & Clytemnestra’s, and the Treasury of Atreus, a magnificent 14th-century B.C. structure. Then depart for Olympia through central Peloponnese and the town of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Overnight in Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games (dinner).
2nd day In the morning after breakfast, visit the Olympia archaeological site with the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the ancient Stadium, the spot where the torch of the modern Olympic Games is lit and the Archaeological Museum. Depart via PATRAS (shortstop) to RION, cross the Corinthian bay by the new bridge to ANTIRION. Pass by the city of NAFPAKTOS and from there on, along the coastal road to Delphi. Dinner and Overnight.
3rd day In the morning after breakfast, visit the archaeological site and the Museum of Delphi, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. Pass by Castalia Spring, and view the monument of the Argive Kings, the temple of Pronaia, the treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the monument of Platea and the Temple of Apollo famous for its oracle. Then visit Delphi museum, with its spectacular exhibits include the frieze of the Treasury of the Sifnians, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinoos the metopes of the Athenian treasury, the famous bronze Charioteer, and many other artifacts. Depart for Kalambaka, a small town located at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic rocks. Dinner and Overnight.
4th day In the morning after breakfast, visit Meteora. The monasteries are perched on top of towers of sandstone, which for centuries provided totally inaccessible retreats for the monks. Meteora is considered one of the most beautiful areas of mainland Greece. Return to Athens passing by the heroic monument of Leonidas king of Sparta in THERMOPYLAE (shortstop for photos). The tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.
