Tour Details

1st day Leave for Delphi via Thebes, Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Arrive at Deplhi known in ancient times as the navel of the world.  Pass  by  Castalia  Spring,  visit  at  the  archaeological  site  and  view  the  monument  of  the  Argive  Kings,  the  treasury  of  the  Athenians,  the  Athenian  Stoa,  the  Polygonal  Wall,  the  monument  of  Platea  and  the  Temple  of  Apollo  famous  for  its  oracle. After the visit passing through picturesque villages and towns of Central Greece, such as Trikala, we will arrive in Kalambaka, a small town built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks, and crowded by the METEORA Monasteries. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

2nd day After breakfast, we depart in the morning for a tour of the cliff-top monasteries to visit the BYZANTINE MONASTERIES built on top of rock towers and providing fantastic views over the plain. Meteora is included on the UNESCO’s world heritage monument list. The monasteries are perched on top of towers of sandstone, which for centuries provided totally inaccessible retreats for the monks. Meteora is considered one of the most beautiful areas of mainland Greece, and its monasteries are one of the country’s most unique attractions.  By return, you may visit optional a factory of Byzantine style icons. Return to Athens passing by the heroic monument of Leonidas king of Sparta in THERMOPYLAE (short stop for photos). The tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.
